Based on my vast experience raising children, I have little advice on the subject of battlegrounds. I guess you might rejoice in Natalie&#039;s asserting independence and try not to let your anxiety show.
 
What my kids do remember is that I meant what I said. If I said no (rarely) I really meant it and there was no point in arguing.
 
Don&#039;t worry. Being a parent is all over in 20 or 30 or 50 years.

I really feel for you guys.  I, too, want a child who is confident and empowered.  Yet, I want to maintain some semblance of healthy authority.  I had to wonder if the consolation on the other side of your struggles may be that Natalie will potty train easily and really take to doing things for herself once she soon develops the skills.  Let&#039;s hope it&#039;s sooner rather than later.
