I can’t believe our girl is 6 months old already! Natalie is truly a joy, as you can see:
Natalie’s half-birthday also falls on our wedding anniversary—Happy 4th Anniversary to us!
Today I’m reminded about how the number 7 keeps popping up in our lives…Normally I don’t take much stock in lucky numbers or coincidences, but take a look:
Chris’ birthday is 7/8/77
My birthday is 8/7/78
Our anniversary is 6/7/03 (I know, we planned that one!)
And Natalie, who has 7 letters in her name, was born on December 7, in room 7, weighing 7 pounds, 6 ounces! Shucks, if only she’d been 7 lbs, 7 oz…maybe the scale was off by on ounce. I doubt this phenomenon really means anything, other than it makes important dates easier to remember. If we forget, we know at least that there’s got to be a 7 in there somewhere!
We’ve only been using the playroom since Saturday, and already it’s made a huge improvement in our lives. Natalie has been napping in her swing really well in there—I think when the swing was in the living room, she was too busy checking out what mom and dad were doing to sleep.
Since the playroom is out of sight (and hearing range) from anywhere else in the house, Natalie can relax and sleep. I scored a monitor for $10 at a yard sale, so I don’t have to worry about checking on her and possibly waking her up.Chris hooked up an airport and speakers, so we can play music in there from our laptops. Music seems to help Natalie sleep longer and make her less susceptible to waking up when random noises occur (like the neighbor’s construction work).
Yesterday, Natalie napped for 3 hours in the morning and then took a 2 hour nap in the afternoon! I seriously doubt she would have been able to sleep that long anywhere else in the house. I knew she had slept enough because she woke up happy and babbling, as opposed to whiny and cranky, which is how she’s been waking up from naps lately.
The best part is, as Chris pointed out, the playroom makes our home complete. It’s certainly a better use of the space than storage!
